They visited the facilities of Negros Power here in Bacolod City as part of their industry immersion program, a necessary preparation for their future. More power to these future engineers!

An Exposure Trip for Electrical Engineering Students

The visit to Negros Power provided students with valuable real-world insights into the operations of a major power distribution company.

Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Business and Operations of Negros Power, warmly welcomed the students and emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting future generations of engineers. “We are honored to welcome future engineers to Negros Power,” said Engr. Tambanillo. “It’s part of our advocacy to inspire and educate the next generation of professionals who will play vital roles in building a more efficient, reliable, and modern power sector.”

The students toured various departments at the Negros Power main office, gaining an understanding of the administrative and operational aspects of the company.

Afterward, they proceeded to the Alijis Substation where they witnessed firsthand the critical operations and safety protocols involved in power distribution.

The company provided demonstrations of system controls, maintenance procedures, and critical coordination efforts that ensure uninterrupted service to the consumers. Moreover, this visit allowed the students to gain practical knowledge and apply their classroom learning to real-world scenarios.

Gaining Real-world Insights

“This kind of experience bridges the gap between theory and practice,” said Christian Daclan, an STI West Negros University student. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to observe professionals at work and understand the systems we’ve studied in class.”

It also highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry and academia in fostering the next generation of skilled professionals in the power sector.

Negros Power continues to welcome collaborations with schools and universities, underscoring the value of knowledge-sharing and hands-on learning for future industry leaders.
