COMELEC and Negros Power have committed to ensuring an uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections.

In past elections, extended brownouts have been a problem during election time, fuelling concerns of conspiracies and cheating. But in the upcoming Elections 2025 this coming May, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) have agreed. In a significant signing event last Monday, April 7, 2025, both parties committed to ensuring a stable and uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections.

Safe Elections 2025 with Uninterrupted Power

The ceremonial signing was held at the Negros Power headquarters and was attended by Atty. Ian Lee M. Ananoria, Provincial Election Supervisor of Negros Occidental and Mr. Roel Z. Castro, Negros Power President and CEO .

Also present at the event were Engr. Bailey Del Castillo, Chief Operating Officer of Negros Power, along with other key company officials.

Meanwhile, COMELEC was represented by other election officers and personnel from the Provincial Election Office. They showed full support for the partnership and its goals.

Election Power Readiness Plan

As part of the program, Engr. Felgie C. Magla-oy, Systems Operation Manager of Negros Power, presented the company’s Election Power Readiness Plan. It detailed the technical and operational measures to ensure reliable electricity service before, during, and after election day–especially during the crucial hours of tallying the votes.

Under the agreement, COMELEC and Negros Power committed to a joint effort to uphold the integrity of the electoral process by ensuring seamless coordination and effective public information dissemination.

The MOA outlines specific responsibilities for both parties in the lead-up to the 2025 polls.

  • COMELEC is committed to providing election-related materials and updates, promoting voter awareness, and supporting transparency and accountability. In turn. Negros Power pledged to guarantee the reliability of its power distribution system, conduct proactive maintenance, clear potential obstructions, and deploy personnel to assist COMELEC on election day.
  • COMELEC information leaflets will be included in Negros Power’s monthly billing statements, potentially reaching around 230,000 customers across Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Bago, and the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.

“This collaboration strengthens our shared commitment to protect the democratic process and deliver clean, honest, and credible elections,” said Atty. Ananoria.

Meanwhile. Negros Power President Roel Z. Castro expressed the company’s commitment to the agreement. “We are fully prepared to ensure a reliable power supply throughout the entire election period. This is our way of contributing to a secure and credible electoral process,” he said.

The MOA will remain in effect until the end of the National and Local Elections 2025 next month. It was also emphasized during the MOA signing that COMELEC would not incur any budgetary implications under the agreement.
