Electric consumers in Negros Occidental will see only a slight adjustment in their power bills this month. Negros Power announced an average residential electricity rate of Php 11.50 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for August 2025, up by just Php 0.13/kWh from July’s Php 11.37/kWh. The increase comes despite a significant surge in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), where the rate jumped from Php 4.88/kWh to Php 5.46/kWh, equivalent to an increase of Php 0.58/kWh.

World Energy Prices Hike
According to Negros Power, effective supply management and cost mitigation strategies helped lessen what could have been a much higher adjustment in consumer rates.
The transmission sector also offered some relief. The Ancillary Services–Reserve Market charge decreased from Php 622.77/kW to Php 599.12/kW, or by Php 23.65/kW, leading to a Php 0.02/kWh reduction for residential consumers.
Average rates for August 2025 are as follows:
- Residential: Php 11.50/kWh
- Low Voltage: Php 11.56/kWh
- High Voltage: Php 10.47/kWh
Negros Power emphasized its commitment to transparency and protecting households from volatile energy market movements. The utility company assured the public that it will continue implementing measures to cushion consumers against sudden spikes in electricity costs.
