BDO and its partner American Express, are coming together to
support local businesses, especially those hit hardest by the pandemic. Through this partnership, American Express is bringing its global Shop Small movement to the Philippines.
More Rewards from Shop Small
To encourage shoppers to show their love for local businesses, BDO and American Express have teamed up. They are launching a special campaign called Shop Small.
With this, they are offering 5x Rewards* for purchases made at participating Shop Small merchants using BDO-issued American Express Cards. The offer is valid from March 15 to June 30, 2021 only.
With more 1,000 merchants, ranging from retail shops, restaurants, and specialty stores, customers may collect points. These can be used to redeem a reward of choice from a selection of gift certificates, gadgets, appliances, air miles, and more.
Helping Out SMEs

Services, South East Asia and South Pacific, American Express, is positive about this. He believes that together with BDO, the Shop Small campaign in the Philippines will help support SMEs. This is one way that both companies can help ventures that have been particularly affected by the pandemic.
Started in the United States in 2010, Shop Small is a movement to celebrate the contributions of local businesses to their communities and the economy. Therefore, they feel the need to encourage shoppers to support them.
Since then, it has been introduced in countries around the world including Singapore, Australia, the UK, India, and Japan.
“Shop Small is one of the ways we can support local businesses in the country,” said Ma. Nannette R. Regala, BDO Senior Vice President and Consumer Banking-Marketing Head.
“With this initiative, we’re encouraging Filipino shoppers to do their share and help SMEs bounce back. Every spend can help make a difference.”
