Sine Negrense 2019: Buding Ang Babayi nga Naglutaw

Buding Ang Babayi nga Naglutaw” is a film written and directed by Mark L. Garcia. Produced by the City Government of Sagay and the Office of 2nd District Representative Leo Rafael Cueva.

Garcia, who is a film and theatre director, was a former reporter in a daily newspaper.

About the Film

The film is about the three individuals reported at the police station. They claimed to have seen Buding, a woman by the sea, floating on her bed.

Garcia added that their versions of the story dissect the peculiar case of narration with different angles. What happened before Buding’s ‘floating’?As they uncover the truth behind, the three individuals’ personalities are also revealed.

Most of the actors and production staff came from Sagay City, Negros Occidental. Additionally, the film was shot in various Sagay attractions, like the Margaha Beach and Vito Church.

Societal Problems Tackled

Garcia also said that the film tackles various issues in our society, like drug abuse and reproductive health.

Furthermore, the film is also dedicated to Garcia’s mother, who passed away nine years ago.

The film is top-billed by Camille Escaro as Buding. She is supported by Nico Coronel, Helen Arguelles, Archel Lacre, and Milton Dionzon.

Sine Negrense 2019 Finalists

Apart from “Buding Ang Babayi nga Naglutaw”, nine other films are finalists to the Sine Negrense 2019. This is only for the open category.

Meanwhile, four other films from Sagay City are also finalists in the student category.

Screening dates are on Sept. 26- 7, 2019 at the Cinematheque Negros. Tickets are available at P150 at the Negros Museum, Gatuslao Street, Bacolod City.
