Match Made in Iloilo
Dr. Cristina “Tina” Tinio-Gozar is from Bacolod City. Meanwhile, Dr. Judah D. Gozar is from Zarraga, Iloilo. Both medical hopefuls met and fell in love while studying at the Iloilo Doctors College of Medicine. They eventually finished their degrees, got married, and decided to bring their practice in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines.
Both doctors completed their residency training at the Riverside Medical Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology and General Pediatrics, respectively.

Bacolod Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist
General Pediatrics
Dr. Judah first specialized in General Pediatrics, a branch of medical care dealing with infants, children, and even adolescents. This includes well child check-ups, immunizations, and treating a wide variety of childhood illnesses and conditions.
Pediatric Cardiology Upskill
Dr. Judah had sub-specialized in Pediatric Cardiology to attend to children with heart diseases. He had his fellowship training at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH).
During this time, he had additional exposure to Fetal Echocardiography at the Mattel Children’s Hospital, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He does fetal, transthoracic, and transesophageal echocardiography. He can also give out sports clearance.

Interventional Cardiology
To enhance his specialization, Dr. Judah had further training in Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH). It is a cardiology sub-specialty that deals with pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart diseases. Moreover, he also had the opportunity to upskill and expand his capabilities at the Children’s Hospital No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
In this practice, selected heart defects or diseases may be diagnosed and treated through transcatheter intervention. With these cases, he can address cardiac problems without the need for open-heart surgery.

At present, Dr. Judah Gozar is one of the three Bacolod pediatric cardiologists. He started his practice in 2018 and is the first Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist in the Negros Island Region. During his early years of practice, due to the unavailability of the cardiac facility in Negros, he does his interventional heart procedures at The Medical City Iloilo.
But since Riverside Medical Center Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory opened in 2023, he was able to do these heart procedures in Bacolod City. He pioneered interventional heart procedures in Negros like Patent ductus arteriosus device closure, Atrial and Ventricular septal defect device closure, Percutaneous pulmonary balloon valvuloplasty, Balloon atrial septostomy, Hemodynamic studies and Angiography.

Dr. Tina specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her medical practice deals with the female reproductive system and diseases, including the breasts, pregnancy, and childbirth. She also promotes breastfeeding. She has been practicing privately since 2016.
