Trattoria Uma: Best Italian Restaurant in Bacolod City

Bacolod City is an interesting pot of cultures with strong Spanish and Chinese influences. Bacolodnons prefer the slow, laid back European lifestyle while embracing the more cosmopolitan fares of a mall, condo living, as well as designer labels. Being lovers of food, our tastes are varied and rich, as evidenced by the many number of locally owned and franchised dining places all over the city that are enjoying good business. People sure enjoy eating out.

Trattoria Uma at 15th-Lacson Sts., Bacolod City serves Italian cuisine designed by Chef Jomi Gaston.

One of the fancier places in Bacolod is Trattoria Uma, a place owned by the Gastons of Negros and developed by celebrity chef Jomi Gaston, serving Italian food.

The place has homey interiors with a menu that is easier eaten than said. But don’t you worry about it. Waiters are helpful and they understand their tongue-twisting offerings. For Italian dishes that uses only the best of Negros produce and imported ingredients, you only get the best food served on your plate. Don’t get intimidated by the prices, too. Their menu might have dishes that are pricier than your regular Bacolod restaurant, but these are way cheaper than parallel restaurants in Manila. Yet, you get to enjoy the quality of food that satisfies both the palate and your tummy. And their servings are also huge that each one is good for sharing. Lastly, you get to enjoy different wines before, during, or after your meals, as they serve these by the glass at prices that are considerably affordable.

While they say that everything on the menu is incredibly tasty, my personal favorite would be their mushroom pizza (Funghi con Pancetta) and the seafood pesto pasta (Marinara con Pesto). By the way, they have a personal and a for sharing serving of pasta.

Funghi con Pancetta pizza–my personal favorite.
Vegetariana pizza with their homemade chili sauce.
Marinara con Pesto–this is heavenly, I tell you.
For pork lovers–Porchetta All’Uma. Tender pork belly with pumpkin squash puree.

Treat your other half or your entire family at the Trattoria Uma. I suggest you schedule a luncheon or a night out where you can get to enjoy a nice leisurely meal and not having to rush somewhere else to go afterwards. Enjoy the best of Italian cuisine at the relaxed pace of a true Negrosanon and wash it all off with a glass of red wine. Now, that is the life.

Just a tip though–it is best to partake of your meals here while they are still hot. So if you are going to Instagram your food, just take a couple of pictures and save them for posting later. That will guarantee your better appreciation of your meal.
