A wonderful spread of different meals that can be shared.

There are certain restaurants in Bacolod that you cannot put under just one classification. They serve a collection of many different kinds of dishes that appeal to the palate of the local folk, which are not bound by any cuisine, whether puritan or fusion.

Oriental Chicken Salad — I am not really fond of eating salads. Even if they’re beside my meal, I may not touch it. But this salad impressed me because not only has it assorted vegetables, it has a unique Asian sauce that I really like. A must-try.

For only P140, this would surely fill a hungry tummy. And oh, with extra rice, please.

One such go-to Bacolod restaurant for your all-time favorite meals is Nonna’s Kitchen. Located at Villa Angela Hi Strip 4, Circumferential Road, Bacolod City, Nonna’s Kitchen serves great-tasting dishes that you always love or that you crave for, such as sate babe, rice toppings, sizzlers, and all-day breakfast at prices that are easy on the pocket. They are open from 7am to 10pm, so even after-dinner hours and you want some tocino or bangus tinapa with rice and egg, you can have it. They also have Japanese specials like chicken nono (Oyakudon), chicken teriyaki, Japanese egg cake, and Japanese chicken curry.

You can also have a filling snack with this cheese panini and chips.

Their restaurant is a quaint cafe full of curios as well as plants all around that it is quite refreshing to dine there, whether during the day or the night. They have an air conditioned area as well as an open dining space for those who would rather smoke or just dine in a garden setting but with a roof over your heads. If you take seats near the glass walls, you will have a nice view of the landscape outside the Hi Strip 4, which I find rather relaxing.

But aside from the meals, Nonna’s has a collection of some of the most delightful desserts and coffee creations. After a heavy lunch with family and friends, you can linger on with the conversation by enjoying some sweets and capping your meal with a hot or cold beverage. Or you can be alone and enjoy your serenity while reading a book and sipping your favorite drink.

The pizzookie… Ahhh… a hot giant chocolate chip cookie the size of a small pizza oozing with melted topped with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and generous drizzles of chocolate sauce. A must-try but only with company. This is too much for one person alone. haha But it is sooo good!

It seems that whatever your dining fancy in the laid back lifestyle that we Negrenses live, you can experience it at Nonna’s Kitchen. After all, with a name that may sound like your grandmother’s pet name, you will surely get a comforting and satisfying time there, whether alone or with a group. And with prices that are mostly below P200 for the meals, that means having a good time without making a dent in your pocket.
