Different factors affect electricity rates. Nationwide, the trend is going up. However, due to its efficient power procurement practices, MORE Power in Iloilo City continues to offer the lowest electricity rates in the Panay and Guimaras islands. The same trend can also be observed with CENECO in Bacolod City and Central Negros, as they are already being assisted by Negros Power in its daily operations.

Lowest Electricity Rates by Primelectric
MORE Power and Negros Power are under Primelectric Holdings, Inc. Negros Power is still awaiting its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), so it has not yet implemented its 5-year rehabilitation plan for Bacolod City.
MORE Power’s residential rate for September is only P12.61/kWh, a decrease of P0.04/kWh compared to the previous month. Moreover, MORE Power also has the lowest Generation Charge this month, reaching only P6.76/kWh. Meanwhile, CENECO/NEPC in Central Negros has the cheapest electricity in the entire Western Visayas and Negros Island Region this month.
Despite the increase in generation charge, CENECO/NEPC’s total residential rate this month remains at P11.70/kWh.
Other Electric Cooperatives are experiencing an increase in their total residential rates due to the rise in generation and transmission charges, which will have to be passed on to consumers.
There are no changes in the Distribution charge, which is allocated to the electric distribution utilities.
“As a distribution utility, there is no increase in the distribution charge. As we all know, generation charges constitute a significant portion of our total electricity rates per kilowatt hour. We remain steadfast in our commitment to efficient electricity supply trading in the market, ensuring that we secure the most competitive prices to deliver affordable rates to our consumers,” said a statement from Negros Power Spokesperson Jonathan Cabrera.
