So what exactly is going on? Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

How does this benefit consumers?

If a household uses an average of 200 kWh per month, consumers can expect to save around Php 132.10 this billing cycle. They can now put that money toward groceries, savings, or other household needs.

What caused the rate reduction?

Negros Power attributes the lower rates to decreased power generation and transmission costs, including:

  • A Php 1.1585/kWh drop in prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM)
  • A Php 0.2085/kWh decrease in the Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) from Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC)
  • Lower transmission charges, thanks to a Php 2.82/kW cut in Power Delivery Service (PDS) charges and a Php 29.31/kW drop in Ancillary Service costs.

These combined reductions have made it possible to offer more affordable electricity rates to its consumers in Bacolod City and across Central Negros. Negros Power does not hesitate to share some savings to its consumers.
