Cebu Pacific, United Filipino Global Host Job Fair for OFWs

Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, hosted a job fair in Cebu, in partnership with select government agencies and a non-governmental organization (NGO). The Overseas Job Fair 2023 was held at the atrium of Robinsons Galleria Cebu and was designed to provide opportunities for aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFW) during the Christmas season.

A Job Fair for OFWs

The event aimed to meet the employment demands of Filipinos in sectors like healthcare, accountancy, hospitality, and skilled trades, offering over 4,000 job openings in the Middle East, United Arab Emirates, Japan, and Australia

“We’re here to bridge the gap between Filipino talent and global opportunities. The success of this fair is a testament to our collective effort in uplifting our workforce,” said Gemma Sotto, chairperson of United Filipino Global (UFG), an NGO that is focused on assisting Filipino migrant workers.

At the event, CEB hosted a special talk for first-time OFWs and discussed important air travel tips. This is in line with the airline’s efforts to support the Filipino community, especially in preparing OFWs for a seamless and safe travel experience.

“Our involvement in the Overseas Job Fair 2023 highlights Cebu Pacific’s enduring commitment to the Filipino community. We are not just an airline. We are a partner in the career journey of our fellow Filipinos as they venture into employment opportunities abroad,” said Carmina Romero, Director for Corporate Communications at Cebu Pacific.

The Overseas Job Fair 2023 was organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region VII in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Lapu-Lapu City, the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) of Cebu City, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region VII, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region VII, Robinsons Galleria, CEB, and UFG.
