Sometimes, you just want to get out of the city and breathe fresh air but don’t want to go too far. And sometimes, you only have a few hours to spare. So where do you go? During our recent trip to Iloilo, we had an awesome lunch by the sea at Bugoy’s Seafood Restaurant located in Brgy. Bito-on, Jaro, Iloilo City. Check out what we had.
Visiting Bugoy’s Seafood Restaurant
Taking a Grabcar, our group ventured to the northeast part of Iloilo City. Driving past rows of age-old trees, we soon saw a glimpse of the sea on the horizon… aaahhh fresh sea air beckons.
We hopped out of the car and lugged our travel bags to a rather long entryway that led to an expansive native floating restaurant.
The open-air restaurant is impressive, with different cozy nooks for families or small groups to have an intimate meal together. There was even a nice play area for kids.
Moving deeper, we picked a table at the far end of the floating restaurant. It was a windy day and we enjoyed stretching first as we waited for our orders to arrive.
Fresh Seafood Dishes
Bugoy’s Seafood Restaurant serves some of the freshest seafood dishes. While they do have some of our favorite comfort foods like fish sinigang, tempura, and steamed oysters (talaba), the other dishes have a twist and are wonderfully prepared.
And please, when you visit them, don’t miss their seafood paella. It’s the bomb!
For short orders, they also have different kinds of burgers served in brioche buns. Basta namit! And most of all, the dishes they carry are quite affordable.
We enjoyed our late lunch there as well as the cocktail drinks thereafter. It would have been much nicer if we didn’t have a boat to catch, as dining there was truly a satisfying experience.
Kumedor Grind Cafe
What’s a restaurant without good dessert?
Bugoy’s Seafood Restaurant also features a cafe that serves gourmet coffees plus hot and cold coffee creations. And of course, there are cakes!
You may want to hang out at their cafe or just request the waiter to bring you a menu so that they can serve your orders at your seaside table.
Try their fresh fruit shakes, too.
Amenities for Intimate Gatherings
There are small to medium areas that are not exactly closed off because the entire restaurant is not air-conditioned, but at least it gives small groups some privacy for intimate gatherings. The seats are comfortable and families or groups of friends can share tables and conversations.
Meanwhile, families with young kids will find a play area very useful. As the grown-ups continue with conversations well after the meal, the kids can play safely in the center of the restaurant.
