Bob’s Restaurant Partners with GCash
Bob’s Restaurant is on the forefront of innovation among homegrown Bacolod restaurants as they partnered with GCash Scan to Pay for an easier, safer, and more convenient alternative payment system in their restaurant.
We have so many homegrown Bacolod restaurants already but I think it’s monumental that GCash Scan to Pay system first partnered with Bob’s Restaurant, which is located at B.S. Aquino Drive, Bacolod City.
Bob’s Restaurant is among the pioneers in the Bacolod restaurant scene. They have served all-time favorite meals for more than 50 years now. The flavors are pretty much the same, even some of the oldest staff members are still there.
Restaurant Innovations
The acceptance of GCash at Bob’s Restaurant is just one of the new trends that the restaurant has adopted. Mr. Bobby Magalona of Bob’s Restaurant says that they are striving to keep innovating their food and services in order to keep up with the demands of the new generation.
Bob’s North Drive branch is the first to introduce the GCash Scan to Pay. Mr. Magalona says that they are looking at extending the service to other branches around Bacolod City.
Now, you can enjoy your favorites at Bob’s Restaurant like their Mongolian bowls, baby back ribs, sate babe, fruit punch, and many more using your GCash.
What is GCash
GCash is a mobile money service that can be used to pay for goods and services. It is entirely cashless so it’s safe and secure. Globe Telecom President and CEO Ernest Cu said that having GCash is more secure than having cash. Even one loses his phone, GCash remains secure because to access it, there will be two PIN codes to bypass.
“We are glad that to see iconic establishments like Bob’s Restaurant adapting to new trends to further improve their total customer experience. With GCash Scan to Pay, Bob’s would be able to give its customers the option to perform hassle-free mobile cashless transactions,” he added.
Globe Telecom, together with Ant Financial and Ayala Corp., owns Mynt, which is the company that operates GCash.
So Easy to Use
GCash is so easy to use. Users with Globe numbers can just easily top up their account. Then with the GCash app, they can conveniently use the digital balance to pay for goods or services. For complete instructions on how to use the GCash, just click on the link.
Mr. Cu demonstrated how easy it was to use GCash, as he made the inaugural purchase at Bob’s Restaurant — he paid for our lunch. First he was presented with the bill, the he scanned the GCash code to select the merchant, and typed in the amount to pay. So easy.
Since Bob’s Restaurant does not charge for service, customers may opt to give a separate tip for the waiters. Eventually, though, Mr. Cu said that they will add a “tip line” to allow for customers to give service tips using their GCash as well. “The app is updated every two weeks,” he says.
As of this writing, GCash is only accepted in the restaurant and not the pastry shop.
Funding the GCash
The GCash wallet may be funded through GCash partner outlets nationwide. These include Globe stores, Puregold branches, SM Business Centers, 7-Eleven, Robinsons Business Centers, Cliqq kiosks, and TouchPay kiosks. Top ups are also available at Cebuana Lhuiller, Villarica, and Tambunting pawnshops.
When you visit Bacolod, make sure that you have loaded your GCash wallet because this is just the start of local establishments accepting GCash Scan to Pay.

This is very interesting, I have yet to use one of those apps like GCash that allow you to pay in a more secure way. It sounds like a good idea, but I would still need to look into it more before getting one of those apps. Thank you for sharing!
