Lights on! Another remote community in Negros Occidental has officially gained access to electricity, as Negros Power continues to bring light and hope to remote communities. The company has recently energized Sitio Hibong in Brgy. Don Jorge L. Araneta, Bago City, last May 16, 2026. This marks the company’s 57th energized sitio under its Sitio Electrification Program (SEP).
How Electricity Changes a Community
A total of 30 households in Sitio Hibong were energized, bringing light, convenience, and new opportunities to residents who have long waited for stable electricity in their community.
To date, Negros Power’s SEP has already energized 57 sitios across its franchise area, benefiting a total of 2,703 households out of 3,338 potential households identified in the program. The electrification projects now cover communities in Bacolod City, Silay City, Talisay City, Bago City, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto.
Under the program, Negros Power has already installed 803 poles, energized 66 distribution transformers, and completed approximately 66.9 kilometers of conductors to bring reliable electricity to remote communities. The projects also represent a combined transformer capacity of 2,383 kVA with a projected demand of 927 kW.
Expansion Means More Investment
Negros Power has invested ₱52.38 million to implement the Sitio Electrification Program, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding access to electricity and improving the lives of underserved communities.
Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Planning, Business Operations, and Sitio Electrification Program and Negros Power Spokesperson, emphasized the importance of continuing rural electrification initiatives for underserved communities.
“Every sitio we energize represents hope and progress for the community. Through these projects, we are not only providing electricity but also opening more opportunities for education, livelihood, communication, and better living conditions for our fellow Negrenses,” Tambanillo said.
Residents expressed their gratitude, as electricity is expected to improve daily living conditions, support students’ studies at night, enhance access to communication, and provide better opportunities for livelihoods and small businesses within the sitio.
With Sitio Hibong now energized, Negros Power continues to move closer to its mission of bringing safe, reliable, and accessible power to more families across Central Negros.
