The linemen of any distribution utility are the unsung heroes. They work day and night, braving typhoons and danger zones to repair damages and ensure that power is back on as fast as possible. Negros Power acknowledges the hard work and dedication of their linemen that barely a month after the Energy Regulatory Commission granted their CPCN, the company held a Linemen’s Day. This is going to be an annual event in the company.

Honoring Linemen in the 1st Negros Power Linemen’s Day
Being a lineman is not only about knowing the technical details of attaching cables and turning the power back on. It also takes a lot of courage to go up high electric poles and critical thinking to solve problems.
Negros Power celebrates its linemen by holding its 1st Lineman’s Day at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City last Saturday, November 23, 2024. It was held to honor and thank the linemen who risk their lives daily in the line of duty. Their very own President and CEO, Roel Z. Castro, attended the event.
The main highlight of the day was the Dance Competition where linemen formed different groups and shared their talent in dancing. And the winners are:
- Champion – SLRP
- 1 Runner Up – Eagle Claw
- 2nd Runner Up – RJH
- 3rd Runner Up – N3B
Meanwhile, special awards were also given to deserving individuals, namely:
- Performer of the Year – Jerusalem Nando N3B
- Mr. Suave – Stephen SLRP
- Safety Darling of the Crowd – Pepe Brigoli
Moreover, a raffle draw was held where attendees brought home special prizes.
An Annual Tradition
Negros Power management deems it worth to hold this event annually thereafter. They want to remember the hard work and sacrifices of these men continually.
“This is our way of recognizing the dedication and hard work of our linemen and this will be an annual celebration for them,” Castro said.
The event also posthumously honored Jessie James Torremocha, a lineman from Davao City who had a brief stint with Negros Power in Bacolod City. He lost his life in a freak accident while on duty.
