They may not have everything, but the closest you will get to satisfy your cravings for French food and good steaks would be Terrasse Bistro Bacolod. They are located at The District North Point, Talisay City, just near the boundary to Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
Special Birthday Dinner at Terrasse Bistro Bacolod
Several years ago, we went out for hubby’s birthday dinner without prior reservations. Since it was the MassKara Festival week of October, Bacolod restaurants were just full to overflowing. Traffic was inching, we couldn’t find parking space, and it was hard to catch the attention of busy waiters.

We wanted a quiet dinner for the four of us, so we drove further up north and reach The District North Point in Talisay City, Negros Occidental (Metro Bacolod). It was quiet out there because the action is along Lacson Street in Bacolod City, where most of the good Bacolod restaurants are located.

Checking out our options at The District, we reached the farthest point of the Corte and found Terasse Bistro. They were open, looked cozy, with a quiet crowd, and they accept credit card payments. We went in and we did not regret it.
Authentic French Cuisine at Terrasse Bistro Bacolod
Fast forward to last year, we only learned about the background of Terrasse Bistro. We chatted with the owner, Chef Nico Millanes and it was then we learned why the food is good and consistent even after six years in business.
Terrasse Bistro was opened on the same year that The District opened the doors of its mall to the people of Negros Occidental.
After his stint at Enderun Colleges in Manila, Chef Nico went to Paris, the City of Lights, in France, in order to further hone his craft. It also exposed him to more French cooking styles and techniques, which he also brought to his own restaurant operations. And affordably, too.
When he came back, he wanted to establish a restaurant with French and it was just timely that The District was about to open. The timing was serendipitous and they had been consistently serving French food cravings to their regular wine and dine patrons.
Our Family Favorites
Our Achi Shawna has a more sophisticated palate now. She has definitely grown from plain rice and plain pasta noodles that she favored when she was younger. One of her favorites is truffle pasta, which is why she especially enjoyed the Linguine Tartufata at Terrasse Bistro.
For moi, it’s their Roasted Norwegian Salmon served with carrot mousseline and red wine onion sauce. Loved how the skin is crunchy and the flesh is moist and still retains that creamy salmon goodness.
We also highly recommend their Cioppino – a sizeable serving of the San-Francisco style seafood stew served with toast. It has just the right spice and acidity without drowning the seafood flavors. Since hubby and I are both seafood lovers, this sits well with us. Good for sharing with a bottle of white wine.

Our little girl Shane, however, as always ordered fried egg. Thankfully, the staff at Terrasse Bistro were kind enough to accommodate our request.
A Learning Moment
Meanwhile, Achi Shawna’s opportunity to meet Chef Nico was a learning opportunity for her. She especially loved their creamy mashed potatoes. “It’s the best mashed potatoes I have ever tried!”
The chef kindly shared how they made it and now, she keeps bugging me to make ours like Terrasse’s. Waaaaaa
We are a homeschooling family in Bacolod, so encounters like these are already learning opportunities. It’s like a mini field trip for the kids!

Steaks Done Right
Terrasse Bistro is one of the few restaurants that can cook your steak the right way. That is one of my pet peeve in Bacolod restaurants—ordering my steak, either medium or medium well and still getting it well done.
But at Terrasse, you get what you ask for. Also, they have good quality steaks that are affordably priced. Try their grilled New York strips and the special Kitayama Wagyu Côte de Bœuf with roasted bone marrow au jus. It’s good for sharing.
At times, they also serve the Tomahawk steak.
Negrense Service
While Terrasse Bistro serves French cuisine, they serve their dishes the Negrense way. The wait staff are not only cordial, they are very respectful and accommodating.
Catering Service
Terrasse Bistro can also cater to small to medium private events in the venue of your choice. It could be for a birthday party or a wedding—they could sure deliver some of the tastiest and most unique dishes.
