In preparation for a solemn and uninterrupted observance of Holy Week 2026, Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) has completed electrical safety inspections among all churches within its franchise area.
In an announcement made last March 26, Negros Power reported that it has achieved a 100% completion rate for its Holy Week Church Inspection initiative. The inspections covered cathedrals and parish churches that are expected to host large crowds during Holy Week 2026. The effort aims to prevent electrical hazards and reduce the risk of power interruptions as churches experience higher electricity use during religious activities.

Ensuring Safety and Reliable Power for Holy Week 2026
Final inspection reports show that all assessed sites are in good and stable condition. Technical teams checked service drops, transformers, and distribution lines that supply electricity to churches.
These systems were evaluated to ensure they can support the additional load from sound systems, air conditioning units, and temporary lighting typically used during Holy Week services. These are especially in demand during the Triduum and Easter celebrations.
By finishing the inspections ahead of schedule, Negros Power said it has prepared the electrical infrastructure serving places of worship for the expected surge in demand.

“Our priority is to provide a worry-free environment for the faithful as they observe the sacred traditions of Holy Week,” said Engr. Mervin Dalian, Assistant Vice President for the Network Development and Operations Group. “By completing all church inspections ahead of schedule, we have ensured that the infrastructure serving these places of worship is ready and reliable. Any potential concerns were addressed so parishes can focus on their liturgical celebrations without worrying about technical disruptions.”
Continuous Monitoring During Holy Week
Even after completing the inspections, Negros Power will maintain heightened monitoring throughout the long weekend.
Maintenance crews and technical personnel have been placed on 24/7 standby under a “blue alert” status. They are instructed to quickly respond to any unexpected issues, including those caused by weather conditions or other external factors.

The company also encourages the public to stay vigilant and report electrical concerns near churches—such as flickering lights or exposed wires—through its 24-hour hotlines or official social media channels.
