The colors of the MassKara Festival 2023 logo were inspired by the Negros island’s endemic Kingfisher.

“I realized that the expressive power of smiling masks and the kitschy hodgepodge of elements have turned the aesthetics of eye candy. But then eye candy it should be. What could be more eye-candy(er) than the vibrant colors of kingfishers of which nine species are endemic to the island of Negros? Surely, very few can rival this visual delight,” said designer Myish Endonila about the inspiration behind the logo design.

MassKara Festival Every 4th Sunday of October

The amended City Ordinance No. 686, Series of 2014 was authored by Councilor Em Ang. It’s entitled “An Ordinance Amending City Ordinance No. 33 Dated October 6, 1987.” It is also known as “An Ordinance Making The MassKara Festival A Permanent Affair In The City Of Bacolod.”

The ordinance sets the MassKara Festival schedule during the week closest to October 19. This is the celebration of the Charter Anniversary of the City of Bacolod.

Ang said that setting a permanent Masskara Festival schedule is needed because it will help people across the world make travel plans early and more effectively. The permanent schedule will allow balikbayans, OFWs, and Bacolodnons living abroad to schedule their travel and vacation leave. They can do so one year, or even earlier, in advance.
