The IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines marks its return to Cebu in post-pandemic times in a grand fashion. Megaworld’s 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown township in Cebu is going to host the world’s best endurance athletes in this premier endurance event on August 7, 2022.

IRONMAN 70.3 at The Mactan Newtown

Cebu is getting ready to welcome thousands of athletes from various parts of the world for the ultimate test of endurance and mental toughness.

The premier endurance race will be hosted for the very first time by the property giant’s The Mactan Newtown. It is a 30-hectare township development in Lapu-Lapu City that has its own beachfront and premier amenities.

The Mactan Newtown will serve as the starting and finishing points of the race. At the same time, it will also be the base for all the participants. Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ Savoy Hotel Mactan will be the main hotel for the participants and their families.

Big Event for Cebu

Organizers are expecting thousands of endurance athletes to be in Cebu in three months’ time. That is why the host province is also putting a premium on the safety of all participants in relation to the local health measures.

“The two-year break due to pandemic only made the participants hungrier for action and recognition. The postponement was a challenge to triathletes and event supporters but we are excited to provide these athletes an exceptional racing experience this year,” said Princess Galura, General Manager of Sunrise Events, Inc, race organizers for IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines.

“The health and safety of our community are our utmost priority, so we will make sure to put in place all the necessary steps to ensure a smooth staging of IRONMAN 70.3,” Galura added.

This is the second endurance race from the IRONMAN group, as the Philippines moves to welcome events in the new normal.
