Ann Co Cakes in Silay-
where art, culture, cakes,
and good food have merged.

In Negros, Ann Co is famous for her specialty cakes, which she markets under the brand Ann Co Cakes, so you won’t mistake it for anybody else’s. For years, we have been patronizing her sans rival (my husband’s favorite). Then when we attended the opening of Pizza Republic almost two years ago, we were able to try their Mango Chocnut Cheesecake and Toblerone Cheesecake and we loved them, too.

But it was only two years ago that Ann decided to open her own place in Silay City where people can pick up their cake orders and also set up a laid back cafe where Silaynons and travelers passing by the Silay highway can rest and have some great refreshments. But since Ann is the other half of the awarded Negrense artist Charlie Co, you should not expect anything less than an artful experience at their joint.

So anyway, one Saturday afternoon, I got the chance to try out their offerings when our church group decided to hold our meeting at their cafe. The place is easily accessible because it’s just along the highway and it has some parking in front. You would spot it from the distance because of a colorful sculpture and the paintings out front. There are chairs outside where there is a mini garden for al fresco dining. Inside is a comfortable, air conditioned cafe full of drawings, paintings, and artful ornaments.

Their menu is simple–all-day breakfast meals, sandwiches, pasta, cookies, frozen desserts, and of course, cakes!!! I had their tuna puttanesca which I shared with hubby because I still wanted to eat dessert and didn’t want to have too much carbs. The kids had frozen brazos. Our friends ordered other items and I was able to take some photos. Ms. Ann told me that her three bestsellers are her sans rival, Toblerone cheesecake, and brozen brazos. And I could only agree because I love all three! My friend June ordered the caramel cheesecake and we both like it, too. So creamy!

So if you are looking for a nice place out of town to have a quiet conversation over good food and some of the most delectable cakes, go to Ann Co Cakes. Don’t worry Bacolodnons, Ann Co Cakes has a smaller outlet in Bacolod City, located at the Bank of Commerce Building, 12th-Lacson Streets, where they sell most of their specialties.
