The Province of Negros Occidental has extended ₱2 million in assistance to communities in Sarangani affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck in June 2026. This assistance was made possible with the help of Primelectric, Ignite, and Negros Power, companies that are committed to give service beyond power.
Sending Help to Fellow Filipinos in Sarangani Affected by the Earthquake in June
Representatives from Sarangani Province visited Negros Occidental and were welcomed and accommodated by Acting Governor and Vice Governor Joeben Alonso. The visit provided an opportunity for both provinces to exchange important information and strengthen coordination on assistance for communities affected by the disaster.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II said the province had been reaching out to Sarangani and was grateful for the opportunity to welcome its representatives and discuss ways to extend assistance to the affected communities.
Acting Governor and Vice Governor Joeben Alonso emphasized the importance of extending support to communities facing difficult circumstances following the earthquake.
“We are happy to welcome our friends from Sarangani. This assistance is our way of showing that Negros Occidental stands with them as they recover from the earthquake. We may be from different provinces, but in times of need, we can come together and extend whatever help we can,” Alonso said.
Service Beyond Power
The assistance was made possible through the efforts and collaboration of Primelectric, Ignite, and Negros Power, which helped facilitate the connection and coordination that led to the province’s humanitarian response to Sarangani.
The initiative demonstrates how collaboration between government and the private sector can help bring assistance where it is most needed, particularly in times of disaster.
Through the ₱2-million donation, Negros Occidental reaffirmed its commitment to extending support to fellow Filipinos and strengthening partnerships that can provide timely and meaningful assistance to communities affected by calamities.
