Brigada Eskwela 2026: Negros Power Strengthens School Safety 

Negros Power reaffirmed its commitment to education, community development, and public safety through its active participation in Brigada Eskwela 2026. Representatives of the company reached 23 public schools across Bacolod City, Bago City, Murcia, Silay City, and Talisay City from June 1 to 5, 2026.

As part of the annual nationwide school maintenance program, Negros Power employees joined teachers, parents, school personnel, and community volunteers in preparing classrooms and school facilities for the opening of classes. The initiative aimed to create a clean, safe, and conducive learning environment for thousands of students returning to school this academic year.

Going beyond the traditional Brigada Eskwela activities, Negros Power partnered with the Association of Barangay Electricians and Linemen (ABEL) to conduct free electrical inspections in every school visited. The assessments focused on checking the condition of wiring systems, electrical connections, switches, outlets, and other electrical facilities to ensure they are safe and ready for use.

According to Unice Castillon, Community Relations Assistant Manager of Negros Power, the company recognizes the importance of electrical safety in schools.

“The safety of our learners and educators is one of our priorities. Through our partnership with the Association of Barangay Electricians and Linemen (ABEL), we conducted free electrical inspections in every school we visited to ensure that their wiring systems, electrical connections, and facilities are safe and ready for the opening of classes. By identifying potential electrical hazards early, we help create a safer learning environment for students, teachers, and school personnel,” Castillon said.

Throughout the week-long activity, Negros Power visited schools in its franchise area, including Ramon Torres National High School in Bago City, Murcia Elementary School, Eustaquio Lopez Elementary School in Silay City, Singcang National High School, Handumanan National High School, Domingo Lacson National High School, and several other elementary and secondary schools.
