Psychology of Color: A Workshop About Handling Everyday Stress Through Color and Arts

About the Workshop

Stress is very common to everyone nowadays. Though the majority may have different ideas of stress, a popular definition of stress is “a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that the demand exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize.”

We can’t deny the facts about the ill effects of stress on our health. Thus, it is very important that we understand that stress is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Recent studies indicate that art is beneficial and helpful in expressing one’s creative side. The skills in coloring and drawing contribute in the reduction of stress and helps one get in touch with his or her feelings. According to, most of us know the joys of sculpting something (with play-dough), painting something (with fingers), or drawing (with crayons and other materials) and these are just few of the many reasons why art is a great tool for stress relief, even for those who don’t consider themselves to be artistic.

In celebration of the World Health Day this October, the Philippine Mental Health Association – Bacolod Chapter is conducting the PSYCHOLOGY OF COLORS: a workshop about handling everyday stress through color and arts.
