Bagels by ELG complete
the Bacolod food scene.
While Bacolod has some of the best cakes in the country, with locally-owned restaurants sprouting all over the city by the day, one of the things that we lacked are bagels. But now, we are very happy because ELG Foods, owned by the indefatigable Elsie Gonzaga, has opened Bagels by ELG.
What is a Bagel?
A bagel also spelled beigel, is a bread product originating in Poland, traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, which is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked. The result is a dense, chewy, doughy interior with a browned and sometimes crisp exterior. Source: Wikipedia
Bagels by ELG, or simply Bagels, is located at the ground floor of the O Residences, Lacson Street, Mandalagan, Bacolod City, Philippines. They are open daily from 7:30am to serve breakfast until 9:00pm. They have 10 flavors of bagels, namely plain, honey wheat, egg, sesame, onion, garlic, blueberry, cinnamon-raisin, everything, rainbow, and cheese. Plus, they have 12 schmears (spreads or fillings) to choose from. These are plain cream cheese, whipped butter, maple cinammon butter, feta dill cream cheese, onion and chive cream cheese, peanut butter, strawberry cream cheese, blueberry cream cheese, salmon lax cream cheese, Nutella, and Speculoos. Plus they have special creations like the Salmon Gravlax on Bagel, Egg Benedict on English Muffin with Ham or Bacon, Hot Pan de Sal with Kesong Puti, and Pancakes. Aside from bagels, they have pasta, sandwiches, soups, salads and an assortment of hot and cold beverages. This Bagels shop is for everybody.
What is also nice about the fact that ELG opened the Bagel store is that she now has a place to display her cake creations. She makes some of the yummiest cakes in town and her “suki” would be happy to know they can order and pick up from here. You may also have coffee, tea, or chocolate here and pair them with ELG cakes per slice.
Bagels by ELG is the newest player to watch out for in the #Bacolodeats scene. Visit them for any meal of the day and I’m sure that there is something there for you. You may also opt to buy bagels by the pack for take out and they come out cheaper, too.
