Neem leaves cleanses and purifies the skin and Himalaya Herbals Neem Products are nature’s best. Himalaya Herbals have really put Neem into good use.
Neem as Mosquito Repellent
When I was a child, my father brought a Neem tree (Azadirachta indica) at home because it was said to drive away mosquitoes. I am not really sure if it worked but we still had mosquitoes around. Many years later, a friend of mine got married and gave away little Neem seedling which my boyfriend’s father (now my father-in-law) planted in their garden. It is now 15 years old and it has grown into a tall tree.
And so that means I am very familiar with Neem but I never bothered to research about its uses. All I know is that it’s good in warding off mosquitoes, for which I have not seen it work.
The neem tree has grown in the two gardens that figured in my life without really benefiting us directly, except perhaps for the oxygen from its leaves.
But I got to study about the Neem because I was able to try the Neem Facial Wash from Himalaya Herbals. And I wondered how come a plant that’s supposed to be for warding mosquitoes is being used in beauty products? And here are the benefits of the Neem plant that I have unearthed.
1. Wounds and bites. The neem leaves could be made into a paste and applied on wounds of insect bites until these heal.
2. Dandruff. The neem leaves may be boiled until the water turns green. Leave to cool. After shampoo, use this water as last rinse.
3. Eye irritation. The cooled water from boiling neem leaves may be used to wash the eyes. This will help any kind of eye irritation, tiredness, or even redness. I am not sure though if it means sore eyes.
4. Pimples. A paste made of neem leaves may be applied to pimples until they heal. You may use also use the paste for dark spots and chronic ulcers.
5. Ear ailments. You may pound neem leaves and mix with honey. A few drops of this mix may be used to treat ear boils.
6. Skin disorders. When combined with Turmeric, another powerful natural ingredients, into a paste, this can also be used to treat itching, eczema, ring worms, and other skin diseases.
7. Boost immunity. This one surprised me. You can actually crush some neem leaves and take them with a glass of water to increase your immunity. How cool is that?
Neem Products by Himalaya Herbals
I purposely started telling you about the benefits of Neem before I actually told you about this line of Neem beauty products by Himalaya Herbals so that you will better understand their products. “Keep away oily skin and pimples. Keep skin pure.” That’s the slogan of the Neem line and I certainly agree. Here are the items I have tried.
Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash
The thick, gel-like Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash can be easily be lathered onto wet face. I use this twice a day, morning and night. Helps clean my face and keep the oils controlled. Great for daily cleansing, especially for those with oily skin.
Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub
The Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrubis the first of their product line that I have tried and needless to say, I fell in love with it. It doesn’t take much to scrub my face. I like it because it has just enough granules to scrub my face clean but not very mild that it does not clean my face anymore. I do this every two days and after I have worn make up.
I have read somewhere that the mature facial skin should be scrubbed more often to reveal the younger skin because if we do not exfoliate, the old skin does not shed itself anymore. But somehow, I am not so sold about doing it everyday, as I am also afraid that if the skin is too thin, I have better chances of getting damages due to sun exposure. Meanwhile, I feel that the Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub is mild enough to use every other day or every 2 days.
Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Pack
The Himalaya Herbals Purifying Face Pack may be used once or twice a week. When I used this, I would start with the wash, then the scrub, and lastly, the mask. You just have to spread it over your face and neck and let it stay for at least 10 minutes, or until the mask is dry.
Then you can rinse off the face pack with water or wipe it off with a wet sponge. I prefer the former. After rinsing and wiping, I feel my face is so clean and devoid of the grease that makes my face so eekily shiny. But it is still soft and supple, not dry.
Neem & Turmeric Soap
Meanwhile, I have used the Himalaya Herbals Protecting Neem and Turmeric Bath Soap on my body for some time now. I like it because it has a sort of a clinical scent, not flowery or musky, but something “clean.” I like it because it keeps the odor of sweat away. I really hate it when I use those feminine types of soaps with floral scents. They smell nice on me after bathing, but after awhile, I stink. haha This one, I really like.
All in all, I like the Neem line of beauty products by Himalaya Herbals. They’re not your typical beauty products that smell sweet and floral because after all, it is NEEM. But for my skin type, which is oily, I was really satisfied with all the products I have tried. They are for normal to oily skin, by the way. And I feel good because these are made from natural ingredients with no harmful chemicals. Sometimes, you can’t expect natural products to be so good and effective, especially in treating pimples and removing oils, because they are sooo “mild.” But this one really works. I highly recommend this line of products for those with normal to oily skin. And the best thing is, they are reasonably priced. They are natural, they work like expected, and they are affordable, too. Himalayas Herbals products are available at Watsons, Mercury Drug, and some SM Department Store and 7-11 outlets nationwide.
Keep away oily skin and pimples. Keep skin pure.
