Gayak Filipiniana Creations by Patis Tesoro at the SM City Bacolod
May is the National Heritage Month of the Philippines. And at SM City Bacolod, part of their participation in this annual celebration is the Gayak Filipiniana dresses exhibit that is on display at the mall from May 24-27, 2018. All the dresses are made by renowned Filipino designer, Patis Tesoro.
National Heritage Month
The National Heritage Month was declared through Presidential Proclamation No. 439 in 2003. It was carried out the the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The whole country celebrates this month in order to remember our rich Filipino culture and arts, which includes fashion.
Gayak Filipiniana Exhibit
Ms. Patis Tesoro, the Doyenne of Philippine Fashion, has designed countless of Filipiniana dresses for very important ladies in Philippine history.
This exhibit is from the personal collection of Ms. Armita Bantug Rufino. She is a true-blue Negrense, hailing from one of our prominent and visionary families of Negros–the Palanca clan.
Ms. Rufino’s friendship with the famed designer has produced these wonderful creations that were made specifically for her. She wore them for different important cultural, civic, and dignitary functions as a Philippine representative. She was once at the helm of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and is now the president of the Filipino Heritage Festival Foundation.
The event was graced by Bacolod councilor Jun Gamboa, ladies of the Bacolod Cultural Foundation and the Zonta Club.
This display of Filipiniana dresses by Patis Tesoro may be viewed at the second floor of the SM City Bacolod north wing (above Vikings Buffet Restaurant). This will only be until May 27, 2018. The exhibit is free and brought to you by SM Supermalls.
